Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Plan Your Photography Experience

Can I bring more than one dog?

Yes of course! There is no extra charge for multiple dogs from the same household.

What if my dog is shy or nervous around people and other dogs?

Nervous or shy dogs are very welcome, and I work patiently to make sure they feel safe throughout the session. I never force interaction or attempt to handle the dog. Instead, I give them time, space, and a calm presence while using long lenses to capture natural, relaxed portraits from a distance.

We can choose quiet woodland paths, open fields, or enclosed fields, so your dog feels secure. This ensures we create beautiful, timeless images while prioritising your dog’s wellbeing.

What happens if it rains?

The best weather for photography is cloudy or sunset/sunrise. If it is due to rain we will reschedule the photoshoot for another day.

My dog has to stay on the lead, can we still have a photoshoot?

Yes, you can definitely still have a photoshoot. In fact most dogs stay on the lead during their sessions and I edit the lead out afterwards.

Can you photograph reactive dogs without stress?

Absolutely. I have extensive experience with reactive dogs and understand how to create beautiful portraits without causing stress. I do not approach, touch, or seek contact with the dog. Instead, I remain calm and unobtrusive, letting the dog settle naturally. Using long lenses and careful positioning, I can photograph from a distance while keeping your dog comfortable and relaxed.

Sessions can be held in quiet locations with minimal dog traffic or in enclosed fields, giving your reactive dog space and security while we capture portraits to treasure forever.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! Gift vouchers for sessions and artwork make perfect presents for dog lovers. Contact me to find out more.

My dog doesn’t stay still for very long, is this going to be an issue?

Not at all, I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to photograph dogs that don’t seem to ever stay still.

Which areas do you offer dog photography sessions in?

I’m based in Hampshire and regularly photograph across a variety of locations throughout Hampshire, West Sussex, and Surrey. Some of my most popular session locations include Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester, Midhurst, Chichester, Petersfield, Alton, the New Forest, and Bordon (near Farnham and Guildford).

I’m also happy to travel across the UK for sessions, so if you’re outside these areas, please get in touch to discuss your location and requirements.

What can I expect from a dog photography experience?

First, we’ll have a complimentary call to discuss your dog, potential locations, and your goals for the session. The shoot itself takes place early morning or just before sunset for the best natural light. Sessions are relaxed and outdoors, often feeling like a walk in the woods, with plenty of rewards for your dog along the way.

How long until I see my images?

A couple of weeks after your session, we’ll meet to view your gallery of images. This slideshow experience is often emotional, allowing you to see your dog’s personality captured beautifully and decide how you’d like to enjoy your images daily.

How do I order artwork from my session?

After viewing the gallery, you’ll finalise your bespoke artwork order. I’ll be on hand to guide you if you need help. Every piece is made from the finest materials in the UK and curated to perfectly complement your session images, ensuring your portraits become treasured displays in your home.

How much will I spend?

Your photography session is £95 and that includes a pre-session consultation, your photography session, an in-person image reveal and design appointment, one 8"x6" fine art print in a 10"x8" mat, and the corresponding social media resolution digital. At your image reveal and design appointment you will have the opportunity to purchase wall art, print and digital files. Most clients choose to spend from £500 on their artwork, but rest assured there is no minimum spend.
