Tikaanni the Working Cocker Spaniel Puppy - Photography in Midhurst, West Sussex
Tikaanni, a working cocker spaniel puppy, had his photography session in Midhurst, Chichester, West Sussex. His owner wanted to capture him while he was still small, knowing how quickly puppies grow and change. Within just a few months, their appearance and behaviour develop so much, which is why having photographs at this stage creates memories to look back on for years to come.
We photographed Tikaanni outdoors in a setting where he could enjoy himself. He had plenty of energy, giving us some lively running shots, as well as portraits that showed his cute puppy side. Sessions with puppies are always full of variety, and it’s those little moments that make the photographs so special.
Something many owners worry about is whether their puppy will behave on the day. Puppies don’t yet know commands, they may not stay still, and often they need to remain on the lead for safety. None of this is a problem. I work with puppies exactly as they are, whether they’re bouncing around with excitement or needing the security of a lead. Leads can always be edited out afterwards, so the finished images look natural while keeping your puppy safe during the session. My role is to adapt to your dog, not the other way around, and years of experience mean I know how to get the best from even the wriggliest puppies.
For the finished artwork, Tikaanni’s owner chose a multi-aperture frame. This was the perfect way to display a collection of images together, showing both his playful moments and quieter portraits. The frame now hangs at home as a daily reminder of Tikaanni’s early days.
Puppy photography sessions are a wonderful way to record this short stage of life. Dogs grow so quickly, but with photographs from when they were little, you will always have those memories to look back on and enjoy.
