Phoenix and Belle, two elegant whippets, were the stars of a very special dog photography session near Chichester, West Sussex. This session was commissioned with a clear purpose: to create a single, perfect statement artwork piece as a surprise birthday gift.

A professional dog photography session isn’t just about capturing a moment in time, it’s about creating something that will be treasured for years to come. Peanut & Hazelnut – Photography Session in Alton, Hampshire

A professional dog photography session in Alton, Hampshire with Chorkie Peanut and Pomchi Hazelnut. A statement fine art wall piece and keepsake box complete their Classic Collection.

Peanut the Chorkie (Chihuahua x Yorkshire Terrier) was already familiar with the experience, having had a session with me a few years ago. When her owners welcomed Hazelnut, a Pomchi (Chihuahua x Pomeranian), they got back in touch to update their collection with new portraits featuring both dogs.

We met in Alton, Hampshire, at a quiet outdoor location chosen for its varied scenery and calm atmosphere. It provided a strong setting for their portraits. Peanut was a pro in front of the camera, having done this before, and Hazelnut quickly followed his lead. She was confident, and full of character throughout the session.

We captured a mix of portraits of each dog individually, as well as several of them together. The pace was relaxed, giving each dog time to adjust, and allowing for a natural, confident result.

Their owners selected my Classic Collection, which includes a statement fine art wall piece and a keepsake print box. This is a popular choice for clients who want a single centrepiece for their home, complemented by a curated set of smaller prints. The finished artwork featuring Peanut and Hazelnut together now hangs in their home as a lasting reminder of this memory.

If you're considering dog photography in Hampshire, I offer tailored sessions with a focus on producing timeless, high-quality artwork for your home.

A Photography Session with Errol the Police Puppy in Haslemere, Surrey

Before Errol left to start his police training, his foster family commissioned a dog photography session in Haslemere, Surrey to create meaningful portraits and lasting artwork.

Some photography sessions carry extra significance, and Errol’s was one of them. His foster family had just received the news that he would soon be leaving them to begin his training to become a police dog. Knowing their time together was drawing to a close, they wanted to create a set of portraits to remember him by and to celebrate the months they had spent together.

The session took place in the fields and woodland surrounding their home near Haslemere in Surrey. It was the perfect location, as it was where Errol had grown up, played and bonded with his foster family. Photographing him in this familiar landscape meant every image holds the memory of their shared daily life, turning each portrait into something deeply personal.

We focused on capturing Errol on his own and with his family, but also included a few photographs with Harry, their new police puppy in training. This created a meaningful link between the two dogs and reflected the family’s ongoing commitment as foster carers.

When it came to selecting their artwork, the family chose a statement framed wall piece, now hanging in their home, along with a keepsake box filled with prints. These aren’t just photographs, they are lasting reminders of Errol’s place in their lives and the special bond they formed with him, even though they knew from the start that their time together would be temporary.

Almost a year after, I was invited back to photograph Harry before he too moved on to training, which I’ll share in a future blog post.

Archie the Labrador in the Bluebells near Wickham, Hampshire

A springtime dog photography session with Archie the Labrador near Wickham, Hampshire. A mix of woodland portraits and bluebell scenes, finished with a custom wall gallery and print box.

Archie’s owner received the photography session as a gift voucher from a friend, making it a meaningful and memorable gift that she will always treasure.

The location was chosen by Archie’s owner, who wanted a mix of woodland scenes and images among the bluebells. As bluebells are a protected species, we were careful to stick to the paths and respect the natural environment throughout the session. This meant we could create beautiful, natural images while ensuring the delicate flowers remained undisturbed.

The session offered a wonderful variety of backdrops, from open sections with grassy areas, to woodland, and to vibrant blue of the bluebell woods. Archie was relaxed and happy in the area he walks in daily, as we captured portraits and candid moments that reflected his personality.

After the session, Archie’s owner chose a custom-made wall gallery to perfectly fit a space in her home. Alongside this, she selected a keepsake box containing matted fine art prints, a beautiful way to enjoy and share the images for years to come.

If you’re looking for dog photography in Hampshire, whether among the bluebells or in other natural settings, I’m happy to work with you to create a personalised session and final products that suit your style and space.

Luna the Weimaraner – Autumn Dog Photography in Netley, Hampshire

An autumn dog photography session in Netley, Hampshire with Luna the Weimaraner. The highlight is a portrait beside her owner’s favourite tree that now takes pride of place at home.

Luna the Weimaraner had one of those personalities that’s hard to miss. She was friendly, lively and full of bounce from the very start of her session. The session had been gifted to her owner as a retirement present from work colleagues, and it was a lovely way to mark the occasion with something personal and lasting.

We met in Netley, near Southampton in Hampshire, at one of Luna’s favourite local walks, on a beautiful autumn day. The colours were warm and golden, and the woodland paths made the perfect setting for relaxed, natural portraits. Luna took it all in her stride, happy to explore and stop for photos along the way.

One of the most meaningful images from the session was taken beside her owner’s favourite tree along their walking route. That portrait became the centrepiece of a bespoke wall gallery now displayed at home, a daily reminder of a well-loved place and a much-loved dog.

We finished the session with a few images just outside their home to complete the story. Luna’s owner chose two custom wall galleries in total, each one designed to fit their space perfectly and preserve these memories in print.

If you're looking for dog photography in Netley or the wider Hampshire area, I offer relaxed sessions in locations that are meaningful to you, with carefully chosen artwork to enjoy every day.

A Photography Session with Lurchers Pearl and Odie at Hogmoor Inclosure, Bordon, Hampshire

A heartfelt photography session with lurchers Pearl and Odie at Hogmoor Inclosure, Hampshire. Capturing calm moments and family portraits while creating lasting memories.

Earlier this year, I photographed two beautiful lurchers, Pearl and Odie, at Hogmoor Inclosure in Bordon, Hampshire.

Pearl had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and her owners got in touch to book a session while she was still feeling well. They wanted to capture her just as she was, happy, relaxed and surrounded by her family. We chose a location with plenty of variety but not too much walking, so Pearl could enjoy the session at her own pace.

Hogmoor offered the perfect balance. The sandy paths, quiet woodland and open spaces gave us a lovely mix of backdrops, all within a short distance from the car park. It’s a spot I often recommend for sessions with older dogs or those who need a gentler pace.

We created a mix of images that included portraits of each dog, photographs of them together and some quiet family moments too. Pearl had a calm and gentle presence, while Odie was full of character. You could see how close they were and how loved they are by their people.

After the session, the family chose a wall gallery to display their favourite images at home. It’s a thoughtful way to remember Pearl and to celebrate both dogs as a big part of their lives. You can see a photo of their finished artwork below.

Here’s what they said about the experience:

“We commissioned Clara to photograph our two lurchers, Pearl and Odie, in November 2024. Pearl was terminally ill, so we wanted some images to remember her by. It was a real pleasure to work with Clara, who was very sensitive to our situation and super-professional from start to finish. The initial consultation was very thorough, with Clara really taking the trouble to understand our requirements and what to expect of the dogs. Her choice of venue was perfect and, on the day of the shoot, we were really impressed with how she coaxed star performances from both dogs (we were sceptical that it would be possible to keep them still long enough to capture any shots at all!).

During the online 'reveal' of the images, Clara very helpfully talked us through the various options for printing, finishing and framing. We took delivery of the finished products this morning and couldn't be happier with the results.

The images certainly tug at the heartstrings now Pearl is no longer with us, but they'll be a daily reminder of how lucky we were to have her.

If you're looking for a professional photographer for your dogs, I can't recommend Clara highly enough.”

If your dog is getting older, living with illness or you’re simply ready to document this stage in their life, I offer relaxed outdoor photo sessions across Hampshire and surrounding areas. Every session is shaped around your dog’s needs so they feel comfortable and at ease throughout.

Dog Photography in Chichester, West Sussex – A Heather Session with Keiko & Riley

A summer dog photography session in the heather just outside Chichester, West Sussex, with returning dogs Keiko and Riley. A beautiful evening spent creating relaxed portraits and finished artwork for their family to enjoy.

Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of photographing two familiar faces once again, Keiko the Pomsky and Riley the Alaskan Malamute, at a beautiful heather-filled location just outside Chichester, West Sussex.

This was our third session together, and it’s always a joy when clients return. The heather was in full bloom, giving us a stunning natural backdrop that worked beautifully with both dogs’ coats and expressions.

We spent the session exploring open paths and quiet spots among the colour, capturing a mix of natural portraits and relaxed action shots that really reflected their bond and personalities.

Alongside a selection of images from the session, I’ve also included a photograph of their finished artwork. It’s always lovely to see the images come to life as a tangible piece, something to enjoy every day at home. Keiko and Riley’s portraits were carefully chosen and professionally framed to suit the space they now live in.

If you’re looking for dog photography in Chichester or across West Sussex, and would like timeless, natural images of your dog in the landscape, do get in touch. I work in a range of locations across the area and sessions are always tailored to suit your dog and what makes them feel most at ease.
