Arnhem the German Shepherd: Living Life to the Full in Hampshire

Arnhem’s session was one I’ll always remember. At ten years old, this beautiful German Shepherd is living with Degenerative Myelopathy, a condition that affects his hind legs. Despite this, he is full of life and energy, proving that his condition doesn’t define him.

For his session, we chose a quiet and flat location near Petersfield in Hampshire. It was the perfect place for him to move comfortably and enjoy his time outdoors, taking everything in at his own pace. Arnhem uses a set of wheels to support his back legs when needed, which gives him the freedom to continue exploring and enjoying his walks.

During the session, we created portraits both with and without his wheels, showing his strength, character and personality. His family wanted images that celebrate who he truly is, and that capture the moments that show his resilience and joy for life.

It was an honour to photograph Arnhem and create images that reflect the love and admiration his family feel for him. His story is a beautiful reminder that our dogs live in the moment, finding happiness in the simplest things.
